The GLL Sport Foundation Athlete Support Programme is now open for applications from talented young athletes. You need to apply by 20 February.

It is the largest athlete support programme of its kind in the UK for a range of support awards, which include financial help, access to sport facilities, physiotherapy, lifestyle mentoring and mental health wellbeing support. Find out more and apply.

Now in its 17th year, the GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) has so far contributed over £15million in athlete funding and distributed over 28,000 awards to support young talented athletes on their sporting journey.

The scheme is provided by charitable social enterprise GLL and expects to award £1.4m worth of funding support in 2025 to successful applicants. All successful applicants will be given access to the 250 sport and leisure facilities across the UK, including Camden, operated under GLL's Better brand.

Most athletes supported through the GSF Awards are aged under 21, with the majority aged under 18. Across the programme, 88% of athletes receive no other funding or athlete support. Last year 39 talented Camden athletes were awarded a total of £24,000 across 18 sports - £2,000 in financial packages and in £19,000 in training packages.

Past and present GSF athletes competing for Team GB brought home an impressive 77 medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

GSF National Ambassador and two time Paris Olympic Kayak medallist Kimberely Woods said: "Young athlete talent in the UK thrives with the right support and the GLL Sport Foundation has been instrumental in keeping the sporting dreams of thousands of young athletes alive. These GSF Awards provide exactly the right help at the exactly the right time in an athlete's career and I wish all applicants well in their sporting journeys."

Applications are open until 20 February 2025. Athletes over the age of 12, who are ranked within their age group and sport, can apply for support, and can access the following benefits:

  • Access to Training Facilities with a Better membership
  • Physiotherapy services (through local providers - requires additional form completion)
