Free and low-cost winter holiday activities for children and young people

Find free and low-cost winter holiday activities for children and young people of all ages.

  • Camden Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme. This runs from 23 December to 3 January and is open for children and young people aged 5 to 16 who live in Camden and are eligible for free school meals. The programme offers free, fun activities and nutritional education. A free hot meal is included as part of each day’s activities. The Camden HAF programme is co-ordinated by Young Camden Foundation on behalf of the Council, with funding from the Department for Education. Find out more and book
  • Sports and physical activities. These include Kids Swim for a Quid, Mini Gymnastics Holiday Camp for ages 4 to 7 and the Multi-Sports Holiday Scheme for ages 8 to 12. Find out more and book

  • Photography competition for secondary school students aged 11 to 16. North London Waste Authority are inviting Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students (ages 11 to 16) to capture a moment of nature's resilience over the festive period. This could be nature reclaiming a space or recovering from human interference. The competition opened on 9 December and runs until 5pm on Monday 30 January 2025 . For more information and how to get involved, visit NLWA’s Education Hub. The winning photograph will be professionally printed and displayed on the wall of EcoPark House in Edmonton, north London. An A2 copy will be produced for the school to display and a smaller copy for the photographer to take home. A £250 voucher for school supplies will be awarded to the student’s school, as well as a bag of reusable goodies.
