Kickstart your career in cooking, catering and hospitality

Interested in getting a start in the cooking, catering and hospitality business? Foodentic is a socially responsible business with a mission to provide equal opportunity to anyone aged 19+ who has an aspiration to start their own food business or enter the catering and hospitality sectors.

How it works
Cooks who pass the assessment process can start their food business from home, by creating an online profile on the Foodentic website, which you will receive help to do. You can set your menus and work schedule, and receive orders directly from customers online - and Foodentic will take care of the delivery aspect.

Cooks are self-employed so you have complete flexibility to choose when you want to cook and how much you want to cook or sell. You'll receive orders in advance, cook the food and chill it on the same day of the scheduled delivery. Foodentic provides guidance on the chilling process. The food is then collected and delivered chilled to the customers.

Training provided
Training of cooks for the launch of the home delivery platform (pilot from 21 July onwards; full launch from 1 September) is under way.

This training comprises 8 to 10-week courses, Level 1 and 2 in Preparation for Work in the Catering and Hospitality Industry, with culinary colleges - including Westminster Kingsway College, King's Cross, and other London colleges. Upon completing the course, you'll receive a certificate from the college. As part of the course, you'll also complete a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.

Courses are free if you're unemployed or on a low income - and you are not required to join the business platform. The course will give you essential professional culinary skills and business acumen.

Foodentic are actively looking for cooks now because council regulations mean that cooks (from home) must register their kitchen at least 28 days before trading. So any cooks that want to start selling their food on the platform will need to start the assessment and training process this month (June).
